In 2016 the annual Harriers membership has grown from 128 to 154 members. This is due to a brilliantly run couch to 5k group and the extra publicity around the club.

Ironbridge Half Marathon
The 2016 Ironbridge Half Marathon sold out for the first time in years. The race received rave reviews. The organisation of the race has gone from strength to strength and I can only thank the Ironbridge committee for their hard work and commitment. Charlotte Gardner will be stepping down as race director after the 2017 race. I would like to put on record the Clubs thanks for all her hard work and effort in making year upon year improvements to the event, and hope we can continue to improve it further.

Cross country
Over the last two years the cross country has gotten better and stronger. The turn out for the Shropshire County Championships was amazing, and in 2017 we are going to put both a ladies and gents team into the Midland Championships, and hopefully the National Championships (in 12 years I can’t ever remember us doing this)

The team structure and great atmosphere stem from the enthusiastic way the team is run by Vic. Cross country should remain paid for by the club as it’s a great team event and people representing the club should not have to pay to race.

Other team events
Harriers have had teams in the Conti 12 Hour race, Shugborough Relays, Attingham Park Relays, and at the Welsh Castles again this year. We are hoping to gain entry to the Welsh Castles again, and I know we have teams again for Conti. We also have a team in Thunder Run 2017 and I hope to add more team events to the calendar.

Social media
Over the past 6 months Dave Stone has joined the committee and taken our social media to another level.

We are now all over all forms of social media and the club has become more accessible. I would like to thank Dave for the massive input he has had in the club the last 6 months, and look forward to him weaving more of his magic in the next 12 months.

Social events
We have held a few social events in 2016 presentation, a curry night out and a few drinks nights. We are hoping to add more events next year.

We have again only had a few Harriers race events. The handicap has been well attended. The Timeless Christmas Mile was again really well attended and the fantastic idea of children’s Christmas presents made a real difference to people – great idea Jon Edmunds. Again, we hope to add a few more events in 2017.

2016 has been a year of changes in the way certain parts of the club are run and with myself at the helm.

It has also been a great success with our coverage on channel 5 for the Birmingham Half and the club growing from strength to strength. I am aware that not everything is 100% and we still have a few problems. But I hope to address these problems in 2017 if elected as chairman again. We need more people to come forward as run leaders to help grow the club further, and we also need a few more people to go on and coach.

I hope everyone has had a good year with me in charge.

But my biggest thank you goes out to the committee, without whose support and tireless hard work none of this would happen.
